Curacao Negrita.

In 2016 i started working on a concept i had been thinking about for a long time, which is creating a statue that embodies the modern women of Curacao.

Caribbean women are known to be beautiful, curvy and colorful with spicy personalities. Their appearance is of great importance, they always have to look good. I wanted to create something that represents these women in a fun and beautiful way.. And so Negrita was born.

The statues are made of plaster and i personally paint them to give each one its unique personality.

The name Negrita comes from y grandmother Mrs. Selcira Bernadina who calls me Negrita Linda which means black beauty. It's a compliment often given on the Island.
